Coaches

Coach Mike has over thirty years of fencing experience as an athlete, coach and referee.

He has competed internationally as a member of the Canadian national team, medalled multiple times at the national level, and been named an Ontario University Champion and Provincial Champion.

Coach Mike is NCCP certified, and has an extensive resume of experience including coaching multiple US Nationals medallists from Y10-Veteran age groups, coaching a three time Veteran World Championships Bronze medallist, and serving as a head coach for Team Canada at the 2022 Commonwealth Championships in London, England.

Coach Mike has also been an internationally certified referee in all three weapons since 2013. He has refereed at the Military World Games, Veteran World Championships, Pan American Games and Championships, multiple World Cup and Grand Prix events, multiple Canadian and US National Championships.

Coach Mike is excited to begin his next chapter as Owner of Right of Way Fencing Academy, and looks forward to sharing his passion and knowledge of fencing, and growing the sport in his hometown of Kitchener!
